Faculty of Political Science and Sociology (UCM) — Somosaguas Campus (Madrid)

You can reach the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at the Somosaguas Campus of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) via the main campus access from Carretera de Húmera (M-515). Once inside the campus, you will find signposts directing you to the different faculties; follow the signs for “Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociología”.
If you plan to come by public transportation, the most practical option is often to travel to Moncloa (a major metro and bus hub) and then continue by intercity bus towards Somosaguas/Pozuelo. Another convenient option—depending on where you are coming from—is to travel via Aluche (a key interchange for Metro + Cercanías + buses). You can also use the Light Rail (Metro Ligero) network to reach the Pozuelo/Boadilla area and then connect by bus or a short taxi/VTC ride to Somosaguas.

How to get there?

OPTION 1 — VIA MONCLOA (most common)
BY METRO
Metro Lines 3 and 6 to Moncloa
(The campus does not have its own metro station; the final leg is usually by bus.)
BY BUS (recommended)
From Intercambiador de Moncloa (Moncloa Transport Hub), take an intercity bus towards Pozuelo / Somosaguas.
Get off at a stop near Campus de Somosaguas and walk into campus.
Follow the signs to the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology.

Since bus line numbers and stop names may change, check shortly before travelling using:
Google Maps (destination: “Faculty of Political Science and Sociology UCM Somosaguas”)

OPTION 2 — VIA ALUCHE (Metro + Cercanías + bus/taxi)
Aluche is useful if you are coming from the southwest/west of Madrid or if it provides a better connection from where you’re staying.
BY METRO / CERCANÍAS (to Aluche)
Metro Line 5 to Aluche, and/or
Cercanías Renfe to Aluche (depending on your origin)
From Aluche, continue towards the Pozuelo / Somosaguas area by:
Bus (routes vary), or
Taxi / ride-hailing (VTC) for a more direct last leg
The best Aluche-to-Somosaguas connection can change depending on the day/time, so plan this segment in real time with Google Maps/Moovit.

OPTION 3 — VIA METRO LIGERO (Light Rail) + connection
Madrid’s Metro Ligero (Light Rail) is a good option if you are staying in or near Pozuelo de Alarcón or along the light rail corridors.
BY METRO + LIGHT RAIL (general idea)
Travel by Metro (as needed) to a point where you can connect with Metro Ligero serving the Pozuelo/Boadilla area.
Take Metro Ligero to a stop in Pozuelo (choose the one that leaves you closest to your onward connection).
From the Light Rail stop, you can continue to the Somosaguas Campus by:
Bus (short connection, depending on the stop), or
Taxi / VTC for the final leg into the campus
Use Google Maps/Moovit and set the destination as “Faculty of Political Science and Sociology UCM Somosaguas” to select the best Metro Ligero stop + final connection for your exact starting point.
Travel (public transport in Madrid)

Madrid has an extensive transport system including metro, city buses (EMT), intercity buses, Cercanías commuter trains, and light rail (Metro Ligero). The region is divided into fare zones, so make sure your ticket covers the correct zones for the journey you usually take—especially if you are commuting between central Madrid and Somosaguas.

Taxis / ride-hailing (VTC)
Taxis in Madrid can be expensive for longer journeys, but you can reduce the cost by sharing with others. This is a good option at night, when some public transport services are less frequent.

It is often easiest to use:
Official taxi ranks, or
Apps / ride-hailing services (VTC) such as Cabify, Uber, Bolt (availability varies)

Tip: When booking, set your destination as:
“Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, Somosaguas Campus, UCM”
You can also mention “access via Carretera de Húmera (M-515)” if the driver is unsure about the best entrance.

Cycling in Madrid / to Somosaguas
Cycling can be a convenient way to move around Madrid in some areas, but getting to Somosaguas may involve hills and larger roads, depending on where you start from.
If you are staying nearby (e.g., Pozuelo / Aravaca), cycling can be feasible.
Dedicated cycling infrastructure varies by area.

Trains (Cercanías)

Tickets can be bought online/via apps (where available) or at stations.

Travel from the airport
Most international flights arrive at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD). To reach Somosaguas, a common approach is:
Travel from the airport to central Madrid (often via metro and/or Cercanías),
Continue to Moncloa, Aluche, or a Metro Ligero connection point (depending on what is fastest), and then
Take a bus / taxi / VTC or Light Rail for the final leg to Somosaguas

Accommodation (suggested areas)
If you want convenient access to Somosaguas, accommodation is often practical in areas with good connections to Moncloa or the Pozuelo/Aravaca side, such as:

If you plan to rely on Aluche or Carabanchel, staying with easy access to Metro Line 5 can be convenient. If you plan to rely on Metro Ligero, staying along the Pozuelo/Boadilla light rail corridors may also work well.
