 bout state formation, social change, power relations, and the politics of r
 epresentation. Against this backdrop of dynamic intellectual development, t
 his book forum invites both established scholars and early-career researche
 rs to reflect on the readings that have fundamentally shaped their scholarl
 y trajectories.\nBook forum participants will briefly present one book on S
 outheast Asia that they consider groundbreaking and formative for their res
 earch, though they may reference additional works that inform their thinkin
 g. These may be canonical texts that have defined the field or lesser-known
 , overlooked works that nevertheless profoundly influenced their intellectu
 al development. Beyond merely introducing these texts, participants will ex
 plain why the book matters to them personally, how it informed their resear
 ch questions and methodological choices, and what insights it continues to 
 offer.\nEach presentation will be followed by a set of pertinent questions 
 addressing current debates in Southeast Asian Studies: What empirical or th
 eoretical puzzles does this work illuminate? How has the book shaped subseq
 uent scholarship? What does it reveal about the relationship between local 
 contexts and broader theoretical frameworks? In what ways does it remain re
 levant—or require critical revision—in light of changing scholarly agendas 
 and contemporary Southeast Asian realities?\nThis forum offers a rare oppor
